Hello there! My Name is Jessica Hicks. I was born and raised
in Boerne Texas the gateway to the Texas Hill Country. My major is Early
Childhood through 6th grade Generalist attending Angelo State
University. Three words that would describe me would be Spirited, Caring, and
Respectful. Spirited being I have a great amount of school pride. I attend
almost every sporting even I can. Go Rams!! I am caring because my family and friends
are very important to me, and I would do anything to help them through a
difficult time. Respectful I was raised to be courteous to my elders, and treat
others the way they would want to be treated. A person who really influenced me
would have to be my 8th grade history teacher not only was he my
basketball coach as well. He taught me how to improve as a basketball player
but he also brought American History to life. We got to perform a reenactment of
the Battle of Lexington. What motivates me to do well in my life is that I will
be a role model to the future of our country. My future career I would like to
be an Elementary School counselor.

Reflection #1
Hi there, my name is Jessica Hicks.
I am from Boerne Texas (pronounced Burn-ie). My major is Early Education through
6th grade. The reason why I thought Angelo State University would be
the best University for me is that I believed that I would be the best
transition from Boerne to a different city. Another reason is that at ASU you
are not just another number, you are actually a living, breathing human being. I
believe that ASU was right choice in school for me. I have a lot of reasons of
why I want to become a teacher. I had a number of great teachers throughout the
past years, and they have inspired me to become a teacher. I believe the one
teacher that inspired me the most would be my 8th grade American
History Teacher; he was also my Basketball coach as well. He brought history to
life. He would dress up as important characters in Americas’ history such as
Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson. He also let his students live in the past
by performing the reenactment of the Boston Tea Party and the Battle of
Lexington.
In this
course I would like to learn how to incorporate technology into lessons, and be
able to make lessons filled with technology so that my future students can
benefit from my lessons. Technology has changed a great amount since I have
been elementary school. I remember in high school we received the Smart boards I
thought they were the coolest things ever.
