I had really enjoyed working on this project. It sure did
take a great of time but I definitely enjoyed letting my creative side come out
when it came to editing the actual video. I definitely had a mini heart attack
when my Windows movie maker stopped working and I had to start back at square
one. With patience, and determination my video returned to where it was before.
One of the hardest things to get over was talking to a camera. Personally I felt
that it was hard to talk to something that didn’t show any emotion, or that I could
see that people were actually engaged into what I was talking about. I could
use this video in my classroom. I feel like I could improve the video and make
it more interactive with the students. Some of the other videos you could make
is a trivia video, or a jeopardy video. Having multimedia in the classroom gives a
different perspective and it changes how things are taught.

Reflection #3
Chapter 3 Summary
The
Three major concepts in chapter 3 are Creative Thinking, Felicitating Creative
Thinking and still meeting the Standards, and Authentic Instruction. Creative
thinking comes in many different types such as Convergent Thinking which means
you bring different perspectives to bring a common understanding or conclusion.
A key part of developing Creative Thinking is Authentic Instruction. Authentic
Instruction can inspire student learning and creativity. There are also many
different parts to Authentic Instruction. Learner Autonomy, Active Learning,
Holistic Learning, Complex Activities, Challenging Activities, Technology
Support, and Directed Instruction. The
last major concept is, Facilitating Creative thinking while meeting Content
Standards. This is probably very hard for teachers to do now a days. It’s a very
fine balance the between these two. A very important part in this section is
having objectives while trying to facilitate creative learning.
One
teaching method that was mentioned was having objectives while you teach. I agree
with this method because you can still be creative with your students but still
keep organized with what you are teaching. There is also Directed Instruction.
Directed Instruction materials and objectives are broken down so that they are
very easy to follow, there is practice between each objective, and the learners
receive quick feedback. Authentic instruction is the other teaching method that
was mentioned, it really works with creative learning.
I can
incorporate many of these into teaching I really like the directed instruction
because you could give students instruction but then let them take control of
what they are learning and let them be creative.
Chapter 4 Summary
The
three major concept that was how technology could serve as a computer tutor , a
mindtool , and support for conversation. With the computer being a tutor opens
up a lot for education with the computer being a tutor opens up practice to the
student. The mindtool, can serve as a organizational tool, simulation and visualization
tool, and a knowledge-building tool. When computers are used for communication
it brings the community and group closer together.
The
teaching methods that were mentioned in this chapter were Evaluating Information
from Online Resources, Concept maps, and Computer-Based Tutorials. Evaluating
Information from the internet is very important because the students need to
know what information is good and which false. Concept Maps, are graphic tool
that organize and represent knowledge. This can help the learners that learn
visually. And Lastly the Computer-based tutorials this gives students more
practice.
I
really like both the concept maps, and the evaluating of online resources.
Because they can use this knowledge to expand their own personal knowledge correctly.
The concept maps will help visual learners.
Chapter 5 Summary
The
three major concepts in this chapter is the self directed learning, technology
enriched learning environments, and supporting students’ use of technology and
resources. I feel that these three concepts you can sum up of what all needs to
take place in the classroom for technology to be successful. Self-directed
learning is when the teacher set goals and guidelines and the students then
follow and learn what has been given. While supporting students use of technology
also means monitoring what the students do.

Autobiography Script
Hello there! My Name is Jessica Hicks. I was born and raised
in Boerne Texas the gateway to the Texas Hill Country. My major is Early
Childhood through 6th grade Generalist attending Angelo State
University. Three words that would describe me would be Spirited, Caring, and
Respectful. Spirited being I have a great amount of school pride. I attend
almost every sporting even I can. Go Rams!! I am caring because my family and friends
are very important to me, and I would do anything to help them through a
difficult time. Respectful I was raised to be courteous to my elders, and treat
others the way they would want to be treated. A person who really influenced me
would have to be my 8th grade history teacher not only was he my
basketball coach as well. He taught me how to improve as a basketball player
but he also brought American History to life. We got to perform a reenactment of
the Battle of Lexington. What motivates me to do well in my life is that I will
be a role model to the future of our country. My future career I would like to
be an Elementary School counselor.

Reflection #1
Hi there, my name is Jessica Hicks.
I am from Boerne Texas (pronounced Burn-ie). My major is Early Education through
6th grade. The reason why I thought Angelo State University would be
the best University for me is that I believed that I would be the best
transition from Boerne to a different city. Another reason is that at ASU you
are not just another number, you are actually a living, breathing human being. I
believe that ASU was right choice in school for me. I have a lot of reasons of
why I want to become a teacher. I had a number of great teachers throughout the
past years, and they have inspired me to become a teacher. I believe the one
teacher that inspired me the most would be my 8th grade American
History Teacher; he was also my Basketball coach as well. He brought history to
life. He would dress up as important characters in Americas’ history such as
Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson. He also let his students live in the past
by performing the reenactment of the Boston Tea Party and the Battle of
Lexington.
In this
course I would like to learn how to incorporate technology into lessons, and be
able to make lessons filled with technology so that my future students can
benefit from my lessons. Technology has changed a great amount since I have
been elementary school. I remember in high school we received the Smart boards I
thought they were the coolest things ever.

This is Me!
My name is Jessica Hicks! I am an
Education Major studying Early Childhood through 6th Grade Generalist
at Angelo State University. I am originally from Boerne (Burn-ie) Texas also
known as the gateway to the Texas Hill Country. Boerne is located 30 miles
north of San Antonio. I lived 18 years of my life in Boerne till I decided to
come out west to San Angelo to pursue my dream as an Elementary Teacher. I knew
from when I graduated from Boerne- Samuel V. Champion High School that I wanted
to be a teacher just from all the excellent teachers who inspired me to do so.
My dream job one day is to be an Elementary School Counselor, and I am getting
there one step at a time. During the summer I work at Hermann Sons Youth Camp
in Comfort Texas as a Rock Climbing specialist. This is the job that really
confirmed that I knew I wanted to work with children as a job. This job is so
much fun I would recommend anyone to at least work one summer as a camp
counselor just for the fun and experience.
